Igor Stravinsky’s
A Soldier’s Tale
Libretto by C.F. Ramuz, in a new translation by Liz Diamond
This production of Stravinsky’s A Soldier’s Tale was created by Nikki Pet at the Yale School of Music during the second year of her doctoral degree, and features Stravinsky’s classic score set with hand-created animation. The first live performance, as well as the final digital production, both use the prototype for Live Video Accompaniment (LVA), an A.I.-enhanced software that grew from the PhD research of music technologist Kaitlin Pet. LVA synchronizes animation to music in realtime, allowing the animation's choreography to be automatically preserved across differing renditions of A Soldier’s Tale, both live and digital.
